Images, video, and project files are never included in diagnostic reports.
This is the diagnostic data policy for our apps under development. App distribution is being prepared. Diagnostic reporting will be enabled only after its implementation has been checked against this policy.
Why diagnostic data exists
Diagnostic data is technical information used to investigate crashes and improve stability. It is not used to collect or analyse the contents of your work.
What is not sent
- RAW, JPEG, TIFF, PNG and other image files; video; screenshots; Live View; pixel data
- Project files, file contents and Capture One Catalog / Session contents
- Personal filenames, full file paths, usernames, client names, project names and identifying folder information
- Unnecessary EXIF, GPS, serial numbers, Device IDs and other personal information not needed for investigation
Technical information that may be sent
- Application version and build
- macOS version and CPU architecture
- Version of a connected application
- Exception and stack trace, after sanitization
- Last internal operation, anonymized processing states and counts
- An optional comment entered by the user
Your choice before sending
Automatic reporting is off by default. After a crash, the next launch offers Send Report, Don’t Send and View Details. A report is sent only after explicit consent. View Details must show the information that will actually be sent, after sanitization.
Redaction / Sanitization
Paths, filenames, usernames, volume names, client names and project names are removed or anonymized before transmission. Where needed, a path is replaced with <REDACTED_PATH> or a temporary internal ID. Comments are optional; email addresses are not automatically collected for crash reports.
C1 HDR Automator
- Capture One version
- HDR set count / bracket structure
- Duplicate exposure detection state
- Internal HDR processing state / dispatch state
Shot Guide
- Folder monitoring state / detected image count
- File type / write complete or incomplete
- Decode success or failure
- Overlay mode / click-through state
- Technical information about a connected application
The monitored folder path, image filename, displayed image, screenshot and shooting content are excluded.
Crash Reporting Service
Firebase Crashlytics is the planned initial service. Before release, the app implementation must be checked against this policy, including SDK-generated identifiers and whether View Details can represent the actual transmitted information. The policy will be updated if the service changes.
